About this Tutorial

This session will explain 5 principles for leading organisations and teams to improve user experience. We will explain the principles using real examples from what we’ve learned from leading user-focused, digital programmes in commercial and non-profit organisations.

The session will give practical tools to for you to take away and use at work. We will do activities together so everyone leaves knowing how to:

  • explain your project in a way that will appeal to non-user experience specialists
  • get people from outside your team involved in user experience
  • take your team with you and keep them motivated and able to deliver
  • look after yourself while doing challenging leadership work

We will end with an open question session for you to discuss difficult leadership situations you face, and get input from the session leaders and other participants on how to handle them.

Rebecca Kemp

Rebecca Kemp is a freelance digital director. She leads digital transformation programmes and consults on strategy, service design and agile working. She's been digital director at Public Health England and head of policy at the Government Digital Service. She writes about digital transformation at rebeccaindustries.com.
