Combining design, technology and science, Vizzuality connects organisations to their users by creating better user experiences. We do this by helping organisations improve their tools that allow users to engage, share their knowledge and understand better the world they live in.
Placing prospective users at the centre of your thinking and basing every decision on their needs, capabilities and preferences allows you to create better user experiences. In this session, Sergio Estella, the co-founder of Vizzuality, will demonstrate how design principles, human-centered design and data visualisation can be combined to develop easy-to-use interfaces that bridge the gap between data and action.
Vizzuality has adopted an agile, user-centered methodology to developing technology and in our experience, this flexible and iterative approach helps us build the best possible products with clear links between use and real world impact. We kick off every project with a user research phase (called discovery) and undertake periodic user testing or consultation to provide users with multiple opportunities to express their wants and needs. The agile methodology provides a flexible framework through which to build software iteratively, allowing you to incorporate each piece of feedback into a final version.
Using case studies from our projects - such as Global Fishing Watch, PREP and Trase - Sergio will guide you through our process of discovery, design, engineering and deployment to demonstrate how an agile, user-centered approach results in great user experiences that help engaged citizens understand the needs of our planet and take action.
Sergio Estella co-founded Vizzuality, a mission-driven data visualisation firm with international impact.
